Vrsar is a small town and small harbor on the western coast of Istria, 3 km north of the Limski Kanal Fjord. Economy is based on farming, viniculture, fishing and tourism. Vrsar has a small airport for aerial sports (two-seater planes). A regional road connects Vrsar with Porec and the main road Buje - Pula (M2, E751).
Today, Vrsar is a well-known tourist resort with great opportunities for visitors. In front of Vrsar is one of the most beautiful archipelagos with 18 unpopulated islets covered with Mediterranean plants.
Vrsar - Beaches:
The beach is, as everywhere in Istria, rocky with sunbathing platforms and sheltered pebble bays.
Koversada beach is a nudist beach situated in the Koversada resort. Opposite the island there is a large man-made sandy area, which is suitable for morning exercises, playing of boccia or beach volley.
Sports and entertainment programmes guided by good-humoured local staff take place here, too. Koversada beach was awarded the Blue Flag - an international certificate for high bathing water quality and environmental standards.

Vrsar - History and Cultural Heritage:
In ancient times, major structures were located on the coast, which was in the 5th century also the location of a larger habitation with an early Christian church. It was devastated during Avaro-Slavic attacks at the beginning of the 7th century. In the Romanesque period the three-nave basilica of St. Mary with built-in apses was erected (the medium apse was extended over the line of side apses); to the same period, when Vrsar had already been a fortified town and the centre of feudal estates of the bishops of Porec, belongs also the earliest architectural stage of the Citadel on top of the hills. - East of Vrsar is the archaeological site Monte Ricco with a fort-hill habitation and a Roman summer mansion (villa).
